Multiple routers?

Hi! i need wifi coverage for the other side of my house and i was thinking about getting a second router. would that work? just getting another router and plugging it into a ethernet jack?

Yes, but the routers have to support it.

No that wont work, u need a wifi extender of some sort.

Why buy a router where you'll end up turning off half the features?

Just buy a dedicated AP

No, it will work just fine but you have to disable DHCP, NAT, and other router specific features to make it a wireless AP and switch.

But he wanted to just plug an ethernet cable in to it which will not do a thing as the WAN one will already be connected to his existing router.

i've had bad experiences with AP's but if you can link me a good one then i might consider it instead

That's because you don't use the WAN port, you use the LAN port.

What's your budget?

I would maybe look at something like a Ubiquiti AP depending on how much you're looking to spend and coverage needed.

i want something thats good enough for apple tv, laptop,ps4, ps3.. i have about 100-150$ to spend

You'll need to do some configuration and setup but it should be pretty straight forward iirc.

I have an AP mounted chest height on a wall and it works well across the house :)

okay great! Is the long range one much better than the lite? the LR is about 20 bucks more, is it worth it?

It would get you more coverage and better signal so if you can go for that then it should be worth the extra money.
