Yup this one

Hello friends

recently im in the look for 2 in 1 laptop for college

i found  Surface Pro 3 in ebay with the following spec

i7-4650u

8gb ram

512ssd

for 550 usd

is it any good ?

im using it for coding (c#,Asp.net,SQL,etc...) also some office work

is the SP3 good for me with that deal ?

also i've heard SP4 with i5 is better than SP3 i7 due to thermal throttling (I guess Throttle Stop or XTU is going to solve this problem?)

my budget is 600 usd so if you have any 2 in 1 laptop suggestions i appreciate it

2 core 4 thread won't be great for the programming experience, but that old a laptop with an SSD sounds pretty good.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

550 is a bit high for that. I know markets are different, but those go for 250-350 around here in pretty good shape.

It would absolutely do everything you would need for college level programming and basic office use as well as play older games. That being said it is virtually unrepairable. You cant upgrade it. You are buying an old device nearing the end of it's useful life and you are at the top of your budget.

The lenovo ideapad 330, acer a315 or if on sale the a515, asus vivobook 510ua are all much more capable machines.

Microcenter has a new Lenovo flex 5 i5-8250u 940mx 256gb ssd and 8gb ram for 529.

They also have a refurbished dell 5379 i7-8550u 256gb ssd 8gb ram for 569.

Both of those would do nicely. The flex 5 looks like junk, but the plastic is really robust. Mine has survived a decent amount of travel and abuse. It's also easy to work on.

Honestly just about anything will handle your programming homework. You really dont need anything fast. That being said buying old hardware is never a good idea if you can afford current gen.

Edit: I saw you want a convertible, but just from personal experience I couldn't imagine trying to do most of that homework without a full size keyboard and num pad.

Yup

Flex 5 actually has downgraded build quality compared to Flex 4, at least for the 15 inch model. Otherwise it's an OK model
