Ryzen 5 1600X and Corsair H100i v2 Temps seems pretty high

Ay Folks, yet again im having some issues

 

so i upgraded to a Ryzen 5 1600x and decided to get an AIO for it.

 

and i get pretty high temps to like 80-88 ° on full load in AIDA64 extreme , and idling temps of around 50°

 

i checked everything, i put on new Thermal Paste (Noctua NT-H1) and double checked if it was applied correctly.

 

i OC it to 3.8Ghz 

 

Is it normal for this CPU to be this fucking hot af or did i do something wrong ?

Either the pump isn't working (or fans aren't spinning, though I'd hope you'd notice that) or you screwed up mounting it.

The crappy corsair fans that were included are definitly working, i can hear those jet engines from a mile away . 

 

And the pump should be working, it does give me a readout of its speed on Corsair Link 

 

and i mounted it to the top of my Case , with the Fans inside it , exhausting the hot air through the Radiator, so it should be fine

What case do you have? what's the orientation/position of the fans and radiator?

Radiator is Mounted to the Top , fans exhausting through the Radiator

I've seen this before so I have to ask. Is the plastic cover on the bottom of the plate removed? For a new AIO and a 1600x those are high temps.

The fans are running at full speed right? Is there any way that you can configure the pump speed in Corsair's software?

I mean if all those ducks are in a row then somehow it's just not making proper contact with the CPU. Also, I feel you on the jet engine shit. H115i's fans are INCREDIBLY loud. In some ways I'm happy my 7950 died forcing me into my OptiPlex lol

Yeah the block might not be screwed in the CPU all the way. It might be using a wrong adapter or back-plate that's a bit above the CPU. I know I had that issue with my CLC 280.

i checked youtube videos before i started putting it on since its my first AIO,

i screwed it in in a crosspattern, as tight as my fingers would allow it, and it was the proper bracked and screws

I too have a 1600x and a h100i V2 with the same problem.

 

Now i have everything at stock with an idle temp of 35-45, but when i play an old game like MW2 it does sometimes go ut to 70+ degrees.

 

And i cant remember that this was a problem when i first built the system back in 2017. I used to play pubg back then with an OC of 3.9ghz@1.325V with temps around 65c.

 

It might be that the IHS is uneven which makes the temps to raise. And if thats the case, the only thing i can think of is to die-lap the CPU.

Make sure the backplate on this is installed correctly.  Have the same AIO, similar chips, similar situations and you are not getting the temps you should on the CPU - and the issue Ive seen is that if the backplate isn't screwed in correctly to the mobo you wont have correct mounting pressure available for the CPU (skims the TIM instead of locking down to the CPU)

I actually have a Asus Crosshair VI Hero and it has a pre-mounted backplate. Tbh all i can think of is that the CPU IHS is uneven.

It seems that my CPU temps raise as soon as i change the AI Overclock tuner to Manual or DOCP. Even if i just apply DOCP with 3200mhz memory clock my temps raise and i have not even changed any settings for the CPU? Very wierd..

 

As you can see this is testing an OC'd 1800x with an h100i V2 and getting great temps:

Did you solve your issue? My FX 6300 has an H100i on it and even with new thermal paste, it's idling around 50-60 celcius.
