why so many graphic card vendors

Newb question here, why are there so many different vendors selling the same model graphics card

 

The geforce 1080 seems to be sold by MSI, EVGA, gigabyte

GPU, the Graphical Processing Unit is the brain and heart of the video card, it is manufactured by nVidia, this is the 'same component' across the board.

 

The graphics card though as a whole has PCB, memory, cooler and so on which can be different depending the manufacturer in this case those brands MSi, EVGA, Gigabyte and so on, so they are not the same model of graphics card, they share GPU but each manufacturer has their own models of video cards using said GPU.

Asus, gigabyte, msi, evga are probably the most popular brands. Evga and asus in my opinion make some of the best cards for extreme overclocking atm and they just make great cards in general too

Honestly evga is probably my personal favorite. They make some of the best quality cards and are known for having the best customer support.

Until you have to use said support. They are very friendly and fast, and send you non-working refurbs a few times for shits and giggles.

Probably just bad luck. Other companies it's hard to even get in contact with someone to get help if you get some help at all.

Bad luck is having a PSU needing an RMA.  

 

Having refurbished non-tested non-working replacement units sent TWICE to me and verified by upper tier support after the fact is not bad luck, it's a failure of the company's procedures and internal controls.  Leading me to not trust them in the future.  Fool me once... ya know?

 

They lost a customer and while it's just my experience, I can't sit back and let anyone (no offence to you) talk about the great customer service they heard about without adding my counterpoint.  I am sure it's an anomaly but they did not handle it well even after that and it needs to be noted.

Wait so did they fix the issue or not? Yeah having bad refurbished parts isn't the greatest but who knows what the cause was. Evga has a good reputation when it comes to customer support so it's surprising that this happens to you. That being said there are much worse horror stories of customer support from other companies.

They made it what it should have been in the first place, but did not make it up my time and additional frustration they caused by sending non working items to me, no.  

 

I too felt it was surprising, since I knew of their rep for years.  I really can't explain it outside of the lack of oversight and internal controls in their RMA department. 

 

I've heard stories as well, and I am sure out of the thousands of RMA's that EVGA does mine was a very very rare thing.  I'm hoping my calls and tickets were reviewed by management and the issues were fixed.
