Getting wife into PC gaming, I need co-op game suggestions

Howdy

 

Historically me and my wife have placed games on separate platforms, she uses a PS4 and I have a PC. She recently showed interest in trying some games on PC so that we can play some games together.

 

So I am looking for suggestions for good co-op games we would be able to play together. She tends to prefer games where you can dive into stats and strategies and where you can spend a lot of time building a play style. A few examples of games she likes would be the Monster Hunter games, Horizon ZD, Ni No Kuni 2 etc. She likes to develop her characters in games. This isn't a requirement but it would be nice if there is a co-op game that would have a similar progression feel.

 

Over all we aren't terribly picky and I am all ears to hear what you might suggest any why.

Torchlight 2 - fun co-op story driven game with gear progression

 

Terraria - is a fun progression driven game where you can choose to do magic or meele or ranged ect. choice is your's

 

Dauntless - is free on PC its VERY similar to monster hunter

 

Warframe - another free PC game with huge amount of unique frames with different ability's and tons of weapon options

overcooked 2 --> might cause damage to relationships rather than building one, beware

 

A Way Out --> get out of prison game

Overcooked 1/2 and Ultimate Chicken Horse are fantastic, albeit relationship destroyers (and UCH lets you get absolutely devious with planning). And one of my friends just told me A Way Out might be a good option as well, though I've personally never looked at it so don't blame me if it sucks.

I think I still have slight PTSD from the first few times I played overcooked 2

I have tried Overcooked 2, is UCH by chance any less painful? I don't know if my heart can take playing another game like Overcooked

UCH is a lot less painful, IMO. It's less about screaming about how much the other person sucks at life and more about strategically fucking over other people playing while not making it impossible for you to make it to the end.

I might give that a shot then, it looks pretty interesting and if I don't have to worry about drifting into insanity then that is a plus.

World of Warcraft.  There are so many different ways that I two person team can help each other.  You can share quests, what you can't use, maybe she can, providing help when fighting the enemy.  Just too many things to list.  And you both can play free until you reach level 20.  That will give you time to see if the game will work for you.

I've actually never played it but from watching multiple game play videos on it, it's exactly what is described above.

Warframe, path of exile, diablo 3, borderlands 2 meet those criteria. I'm not 100% sure if path of exile is coop though. Maple Story 2 seems to be doing good right now too. Another one to check out would be Tree of Savior, but I'm not sure how healthy that game is right now. I dropped it a long time ago, but I've heard it's better now.

I second Divinity. It's apparently a pretty in depth co-op RPG with lots of choices and options.

I personally hate the Dragon Age series, and I think even fans found Inquisition sub-par.

Dying Light I'm only managing to somewhat enjoy with mods, which you may or may not be able to use with co-op.
