FPS display vs Resolution

Mugenjynn

This may be a stupid question to some but I’m having a really hard time deciding between 144hz 1080p and 60hz 4K monitors. People say 144hz is a lot smoother(assuming your fps goes that high on average). Someone decide for me

Probs the best compromise. I'm running a 1080p 144Hz G-Sync monitor off an R7 2700X and 1080 (soon to be SLI cuz uh... it looks cool) and it's butter smooth, if you have a 1080 or 1080 Ti you could handle 1440p just fine as well though (I just love to slam my settings to max).

Well, for gaming the 144Hz is definitely ideal. I dont really find the appeal of 4k for gaming.

4k definitely has more screen real estate so if you do a lot of work it may help... unless the screen is small in which case you need to use scaling which kills the benefit if more screen real estate so sticking with 1440p at that point makes more sense anyway.

144Hz. Always avoid the 60Hz slide show. 720p 144Hz is preferable to 4k or even 8k 60Hz.

Geez it’s my first time switching to pc I’m kinda excited to see if I can tell the difference btween 60- and 60+
