Hi all,

so the new Forza Horizon 4 is out and is on the xbox/pc game pass however i seem to keep getting issues with lag no matter what settings I can think of changing that i know of so tried the default which is medium and as you can see from the screen shot have also tried custom setting which is better but still jittery. the specs are in the screen shot

i5 -7500 intel 1060gtx 3gb windforce OC 8gb DDR4 corsair vengence ssd forgot size 1tb hdd sound blaster z gigabyte b250-hd3p

if anyone could help be great running via the game pass microsoft store.

thanks

Are you getting lag or fps dips? Cause that's a big difference.

Anyhow, i noticed that all forza games i've played so far were really CPU intensive - more, than GPU. Take a look at your hardware graphs while playing and see if either of the two is bottlenecking the other

Don't forget to quote when replying to me

all 7th gen below 7600k were pretty trash for gaming. it is probably your cpu. gpu seems fine tho

Hmm ? I usually call lag when it stutters but yea would say it’s FPS dips when I do a benchmark with recommended settings there a spikes where it will drop to 30 FPS and when racing it will do the same too. I’ll have a look tomorrow At the graphs though thanks. Would having only a single 8gb ram stick cause any issues also.

Ok I thought they were quite good when they came out did want the 7600k but couldn’t afford it at the time.

Thats not exactly a powerful cpu and from the cpu usage I see on my oc'd 4770k (with double the amount of threads and higher clockspeeds) I suspect that Horizon 4 might be very intensive on your cpu, especially since its an open-world game.

Also 8gb of ram could potentially be a problem, but I dont think thats as much of a bottleneck as the cpu.

No, they aren't "trash". Thats just straight up bs.

But it could very well be possible that four threads is just not enough for Horizon 4

open task manager. then monitor what is being maxed out. are all cores on the cpu on 100% if so, your cpu is bottleneck

Ok that makes sense to be honest so what would you suggest would be a better upgrade in a similar price range and that would would with my current hardware so mobo and ram thanks

What would you recommend under £250 that will work with current hardware. Thanks

Checked task manager cpu is at 95% while the gpu is running about 60%.

cpu limitation confirmed. download xtu. try undervolting to help run the cpu at max boot clock. try base clock overclocking (idk if that still works or not)

Thanks I’ll have a look into it though will it work on a none k cpu.

also if I was to get a i5 7600k would this work fine with the mobo.

you cannot overclock on b250. you need z series mobo. if you were to upgrade your cpu, buy 8400 or 8600k (with a new mobo if you can afford it)

Thanks what would you recommend with my current mobo till can change it.

Edit ordered a i5 8600k with a z370 mobo will this be fine with the 1060gtx 3gb as bottler necker says the gpu is the bottle neck.
