GTX 970 for PhysX? Too much?

Opencircuit74

Hello, I since upgraded from my GTX 970 to a GTX 1070 Ti, and now have an extra GTX 970 laying around. Should I sell it to get a weaker GPU for PhysX/New CPU, or just use it for a PhysX card? I'm running a Ryzen 5 1400 @3.7GHz, 16GB of 2933 RAM, and a BiostarX370GT5 motherboard. I am CPU bottlenecked in games, as the GPU is only being used at around 60-70%. Thanks!

CPU: I9-7900X RAM: 64GB (16X4) DDR4-2933 GPU: RTX 3080 MOBO: ASUS X299 Deluxe PSU: Corsair RM850 SSD: ADATA XPG SX8200 PRO 1TB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB Case: Corsair iCUE 465X Cooler: Corsair 280 AIO

I'd just sell it. Dedicated PhysX cards aren't really worth it anymore.

Probably sell it or use it for another build, there really aren't even that many games that use PhysX now a days anyways.

Desktop: i9 11900k, 32GB DDR4, 4060 Ti 8GB 🙂

Huh. None of the games I play are on that list, I guess I'll sell it and my CPU for a ryzen 7.

Keep both, save up and build a little LAN/carry-round rig?

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Maybe, but I never really go to LAN parties, and could build one for cheaper. I bought my card for $220 last year, and now it's worth around $140. It might be cheaper to convert an older PC to a LAN rig (maybe an old AMD card like a 7970, I can get those for really cheap), will keep that in mind.

Find a console gamer, offer to build them a gaming rig at a reduced price, include those parts?

Convert them all.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

That might work, I do have some friends that want to build a PC but don't have a massive budget.

I'd be using it in another build....

You can THEN still choose to sell it, or re-purpose it.

Lan Rig/2nd Rig for Friendly Visitors to Game on, or for you to Travel with, not risking your bigger PC.

Use this spare PC for Downloading Updates/Secondary Usage / Other things while you Game/Work so your not sharing resources as much when multitasking.

Gift to the Underprivileged, be it family or friends or randoes...

Just having a machine to tweak, try new things, experiment with fun new things (Beta/Alpha builds of things) that can potentially go bad aka - Win10 NEW updates :P
Without risking your primary PC.

Building a cheapGTX970 + i5+ 8GB Ram + HDD cheap system for friends to game on,... all good :)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Thinking of this, I'll probably  use it for messing with some crazy overclocks (on dry ice or something) and then a smaller LAN build. That would be fun.
