Need some help with my first PC Build! Rate my build

Hello

 

Please help me rate my first PC build.

 

It's my first time building, but obviously I don't want any mistakes/regrets later, so I would love if you had any changes or stuff like that?

 

+ Bonus question: What would be the best case for a build of that size? (Looking for a standard case with no need for a "window")

 

Facts:

 

The PC is only for high end gaming with a 1080p 144hz monitor. (no need for 4k) would like to play big games on high/ultra

 

I am going to OC the CPU (maybe big time). Not gonna OC the GPU/ram

 

I have read that CX PSU's might be a bad choice, but I already own this one, so I don't see a reason not to keep it?

1. switch the cooler to an aio it will be better for overclocking
2. asus boards are generally of a better quality than ASRock board
3. I switch ram to slightly faster rgb modules
4. I put an m.2 SSD an hdd in it it will be faster this way
5. I recommend a p400 from phanteks or an p110 from antec.

 

but overall your build is ok I would give it a 7 out of 10.

Mobo and psu are overkill. You could easily get a lga 1151 mobo for $110 that will easily support your cpu even with ocing. For the psu, yes, having more is better, but you could get a 650w

I already own the psu, so i will just go with that  thx for the mobo tip.

But great choice going for 1080p, that way the GPU will least you 3 years for those settings, and you will save a lot of money for future upgrades (like G(R)TX 3070, or even 4070).

I would go for some Samsung 970 SSD (256GB for OS and some programs) and some WD Black HDD for games. But it's up to you.

But isnt 1070 too outdated already for newer games? Or is it the cpu that means the most?

I've had a lot of DPC latency issues on a few of their boards and one of them died on me out of the blue, it was back in Z77 and Z97 days but I'm still not willing to change my mind. Would i need to get a better cooler if I buy i7 instead? 

 

And dont u think an overclocked i5 could be decent, if i get it to like 4,5-5ghz

No, I've seen a $30 hyper 212 Evo cool an i7 8700k running at 4.8Ghz, I would recommend the Scythe FUMA Rev. B, it's currently the best air cooler under $50 hands down, at newegg.

The thing with i5s is that they are most of the time pegged at 100% usage in CPU intensive games and this causes a lot of frame latency issues and mouse input lag and you can't stream or have other programs running in the background.

The GTX1070 is not a proper 144Hz ultra card, the GTX 1080Ti is the only Pascal card that can push 144fps on ultra in most games. The 1070 is for someone who wants +60fps ultra and 144fps medium. if you want 144fps ultra in every game, you gonna need to go all out on both the GPU and the CPU.

Asrock is technicly just a company from asus.

 

Get a 8600k

A good cooled 1070 ti or 1080 ti

A dark rock pro 4 or a h100i v2

16 gigs of ram at 3000+ mhz

A big sata ssd

A big hdd for other games

An atx case like the h500(i)

A good mobo from asus, msi, asrock or gigabyte with the z370 chipset

Cx series are for the price great psus, at least the new one. The old ones were cheeply made

technically you're a bit behind the facts as of 2010 ASRock is not from Asustek anymore it is owned by Pegatron.

o oke your from Denmark. then I would suggest a mercury 360 (RGB) aio. what most people are saying about your CPU/GPU bottleneck isn't true an i5-8600k OC will work fine with a 1080ti. my little brother is running an i5-8600k with a strix 1080ti and it just works fine even in CPU intensive games like GTA V, just cause 3, assassins creed syndicate and  Metro: Last Light.

These 4 videos might help you decide if you really should save $100 by getting the 8600k instead of the i7. Also in the last video, check out how stable the GPU usage is with the i7 compared to the i5. Good luck
