Hi networking is not my thing so i have some questions ok so 10/100 and 1000 gigabte connection provide faster file transfer rates or dose it provide faster internet speed when connected to a gigabit connection or is gigabit connection only used to bost file translfer speeds ovet the gigabit locan storage and local file trandsferes 7

File transfer.

 

It can affect network speed if you have an ultra-super-mega-fast internet and a 10/100 network which would slow down the throughput, but this generally isn't an issue unless you have old hardware

So when talking about networking, I usually break it down into two different explanations: Internet, and local networking. 

Local networking only effects devices that are communicating inside of (usually) a single building. AKA your house, a small business, etc.

Internet (and intranet, but don't worry about that) is everything outside of your home network. So websites like google, game servers for games like CS:GO, Fortnite and pretty much every multiplayer game has a server hosted somewhere else, and you connect to it via an internet connection. 

 

10/100 and 1000 refer to a physical connection speed on your local device. so 10/100 refers to a theoretical 100Mbps (megabits per second). This means that your connection on your local network maxes out at 100mbps, or about 12MB/s (megaBytes per second, 1 byte = 8 bits). 

 

Internet is a little more complicated. Usually you pay a service provider, or ISP a set fee per month for them to provide a certain connection speed, like 100/10Mbps (first number is download speed, second number is upload speed.) and usually is an estimate rather then an exact number. The way networking works is your connection will always work at the slowest speed in the chain. For example, if you have a 1000Mbps connection on a device, but you only pay for a 50/5Mbps connection, then you will be limited to those speeds on the internet. But, lets say you are transferring a file from one computer to another on a local network, then you are only limited by the devices on your network.

So 10/100 Networking switch is still industry standard for home networking

 

1000 gigabit connection ports is sorta over kill, and  more for someone running industry services and servers that need high speed access to there local servers

 

Is that correct ?

The cost difference between 10/100 and 1G equipment is hardly anything. 1G networks are basically the standard for home to medium business.

 Getting speeds over 100 from ISP is getting quite common so going with 1G on the local side will allow you to get all of that speed and also comes with local bandwidth benefits.

Not really, gigabit stuff is prominent at a low cost in the market.

 

In short, gigabit provides faster LAN transfers.  If you have an internet connection faster than 100 mbps you would need a gigabit environment (router, NIC etc) in order to transfer data from the internet higher than 100 mbit.
