fans spinning gpu detected no display and bsod after about 10 seconds

I recently got a faulty gtx 780 ti from someone. When I put the gpu into my motherboard and power on my computer the fans will spin and before installing drivers for the card it is detected by device manager and gpu-z. After the driver installation, the computer refuses to boot into windows and the screen is blank for awhile (780 ti), then a bsod (integrated graphics). Error messages will all be related to drivers and/I'd hardware issues. Please help. Thanks.

I remember @JayzTwoCents did some troubleshooting with a Nick's old GTX 780.

What he did was re-flash the vBIOS on the card.

 

I don't know if this will help with your situation, but just throwing a suggestion out.

 

BUT, before messing with the vBIOS, would first check the card for any signs of PHYSICAL issues first --  checked for burnt/damaged spots.

 

The card is a few years old now, so it would be a good idea to disassemble the cooler, clean off the old thermal paste, and apply a new amount -- you can use this opportunity to inspect the card, too.

i found a couple of carbonized patches on the PCB. This card is out of warranty. What should I do?

Can you upload a picture of said carbonized spots?

 

It is very difficult to do any manual PCB repair without special equipment.

PCBs used for motherboards + graphics cards are multi-layer.
