Looking for a monitor for my 1070ti

Prince Noctis

I'm looking for a monitor that can take full advantage of 1070ti as I'm using a 1080p 75hz from AOZ atm. I'm looking at Samsung 27" C27JG50 as it's the cheapest 1440p 144hz but idk if it's any good, but what do you guys recommend?

Look at your local used listings. All of my current monitors I've purchased used, all with no problems. The MX34VQ was probably the best deal of the 3, but all were bought for around half of retail price, all in great to new-in-box condition. The ROG swift PG278Q was about $320, so the worst "deal" of the 3, but compared to $500-550 new, still good.

Here is a 165Hz 1ms 1440p monitor, for only $380 (link). Good reviews. G-sync too.

My Build, v2.1 --- CPU: i7-8700K @ 5.2GHz/1.288v || MoBo: Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E Gaming || RAM: 4x4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 2666 14-14-14-33 || Cooler: Custom Loop || GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC Black, on water || PSU: EVGA G2 850W || Case: Corsair 450D || SSD: 850 Evo 250GB, Intel 660p 2TB || Storage: WD Blue 2TB || G502 & Glorious PCGR Fully Custom 80% Keyboard || MX34VQ, PG278Q, PB278Q

Audio --- Headphones: Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX || Amp: Schiit Audio Magni 3 || DAC: Schiit Audio Modi 3 || Mic: Blue Yeti

[Under Construction]

My Truck --- 2002 F-350 7.3 Powerstroke || 6-speed

My Car --- 2006 Mustang GT || 5-speed || BBK LTs, O/R X, MBRP Cat-back || BBK Lowering Springs, LCAs || 2007 GT500 wheels w/ 245s/285s

The Experiment --- CPU: i5-3570K @ 4.0 GHz || MoBo: Asus P8Z77-V LK || RAM: 16GB Corsair 1600 4x4 || Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo || GPUs: Asus GTX 750 Ti, || PSU: Corsair TX750M Gold || Case: Thermaltake Core G21 TG || SSD: 840 Pro 128GB || HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB

R.I.P. Asus X99-A motherboard, April 2016 - October 2018, may you rest in peace. 5820K, if I ever buy you a new board, it'll be a good one.

I forgot to write that i'm not from the states so if i were to buy a monitor from Amazon the import cost would be sky high, so yeah but would my 1070ti really be enough for 165hz?

Amazon is not a local used listing... You probably won't be able to run max graphics on all but CSGO, but yeah. Well... you don't really need 165 fps, but if you turn a few of the demanding settings down you'll be fine. The point of resolution after all is to counter act anti-aliasing, which is one of the bigger performance hitters. G-sync will make up whatever smoothness is left on the table. 1440p 144Hz is my new standard. There's no going back once you play on it lol,

If you're set on buying new, just make sure whatever your buying has good reviews and a good return policy. I see no reason to not buy a cheap monitor then (unless you want the fancy stand that all nice asus monitors come with).

For a 1070 Ti I would go with above. Though you don't need G-Sync, some people say they do see a difference in screen tearing. I didn't see a difference between G-Sync vs no G-Sync as I never experience screen tearing anyways (I've only seen it when OCing too high when testing with Heaven Benchmark). This is something you'll have to decide whether you want or not. The price premium for G-Sync is 200$ comparing the Acer XB271HU (G-Sync 165hz) vs the XF270HU (Free Sync 144hz). I went with the Free Sync to save money. G-Sync also adds latency according to Linus which I don't really care for.

Agreed, I have never experienced screen tearing on any of the 5 monitors I've had on this computer. G-sync for sure is not necessary. But the monitor is the cheapest well rated one and it happened to have it, and you can turn it off, so... yeah.

The monitor I posted is only $320. That's less than any other 1440p 144Hz monitor with or without g-sync. It's expensive cause it's NVIDIA.
