Install Linux on a PC with Windows 10

Go to solution Solved by Br3tt96,

Did you run the bootinstaller software to install the unbuntu iso on the USB?

Hi,

I have an old Elitebook 2540P Laptop hanging around that I don't use anymore as I have a desktop PC, I want to convert it to a host for coding that I do. I work better with Linux for programming. Is there any way where I can install Linux (preferably Ubuntu) onto this PC. The BIOS is pretty simplistic and I've tried the simple USB boot to install and it doesn't work.

Any information would be great!

Many Thanks,

Stentorian

alongside of windows 10 or get rid of windows 10 all together?

also, usb doesnt work in what way exactly?

Get rid of it completely, Linux is a much lighter version for the rubbish specifications I have. And by the USB not working I mean that everytime I click it in the boot options menu, it just goes straight to Windows and doesn't load the Ubuntu bootable that's on the USB

No I didn't. I used ISOtoUSB. It was recommended on another forum. I will try that now and see whether it works!
