I was going to make a news topic on this since they decided to disable comments and the ability to see the like/dislike ratio, but I guess I have no need to.

This whole thing is f**king hilarious.

This video has me dying laughing.

My jaw hurts from laughing so hard he really needs to make a side channel with Lyle!

LYLE is ruthless

Hopefully the guy starring in the Verge video doesn't get too much hate, it's not his fault the company doesn't know its facts. Knowing the internet though...

I mean, come on. A cursory search of PC build guide can give way more information. Or even just checking the manual. They had to KNOW that they did a terrible job because they definitely re-installed the radiator with the fans and still posted the video. As in, the Stefan guy KNEW that he messed up and either he or someone more experienced/who actually read a manual fixed the mistake.

There is just so much wrong ... the RAM .. the PSU comments... the TIM application ... ...uhhhh so cringe worthy.

I found the verge article: https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/13/17828092/gaming-pc-build-custom-how-to-asus-intel-geforce-cost

It seems like they corrected some of the mistakes ( for example, calling zipties zipties )

I'm sort of just sitting in awe of this. I'll watch a lot of youtube but I've never really been drawn in to comment on much. As someone who has built PCs as a hobbyist and works in IT professionally... I just can't even deal. The RAM is installed wrong, he forgot to thread down one side of the CPU cooler (which means he didn't bring it down with even pressure on all sides), the wire management is a joke, the PSU fan is blowing INTO the case... I'm just scratching the surface. You all watched it so I know I'm just preaching to the choir here, but holy hell this was so bloody bad.

I've seen people on other forums defend this guy "oh poor that guy, their picking on him. PC enthusiasts are so elitist". ...Dude works for a channel with 2.2million subscribers and he is spreading bad information. That's not being elitist. That's putting him in check and holding him accountable. Dude should have checked himself before he wrecked himself.

Himself is wrecked.

Yeh. I'm flustered here. Call it a symptom of my extended disbelief. Either way then. It's drawing warm air from the inside of the case for no particular reason.

I skimmed the article that Shreyas linked to and I caught an image and a highlighted blurb from the article that seemed like they should be placed together. zvsYhPf.jpg

Just found out that the producer of that video got into a Twitter fight with GN, it started by him saying that tech YouTubers aren't journalists ;

After some back and forth, he replied that sponsored content isn't journalism ... But weren't they sponsored by Capital One for that PC build??? lollll

That "cable management" makes me DoomGuy levels of angry.

Especially for a "big time" media outlet using it as "hey look what we built".

@LinusTech You guys should do an exact copy of this build, but start it off with "here's how you do it right" lol

Ha that would be brilliant.

Their tweet about sponsored content just being content and not journalism, their video is sponsored, right? by capital someone, so what their making is content, not journalism, so they just discredited themselves. What tools

At this point, with them doubling down and disabling the comments and like/dislike ratio stuff, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm more amazed that they have the balls to have the picture of the "completed" build on their website in the article. Terrible cable management and all.

Capital One is a scummy bank well known for doing huge layoffs to people who are at the 9 year mark and about to get their pension status.

They did that to my mom and a few thousand other people back in the early 2000's. Class action lawsuit ensued.

They can't be embarrassed if they don't know what they should be embarrassed about. They might not know that poor cable management is something to be ashamed of.

On watching this Lyle video for the fifth time, it would be hilarious to see him get a segment on the WAN show, for particularly idiotic news items.

I was unaware Kyle had this persona in his back pocket lol

I just can't get my head around how on earth this made it trough the entire bloody production process without anybody noticing all of those terrible mistakes. Due to this, the following theory has started to form in my mind: Perhaps many more terrible mistakes were made which they have corrected/edited out in the video, the ones that are in the final video could actually be ones that the editors decided were "acceptable", and therefore probably not even the most terrible ones. The editors must have been like "ok so we've managed to fix most of it, hopefully this will do just fine".

I mean, they're fairly well known here in the US. They have commercials with Samuel L. Jackson.

Not sure why anyone would want them as a sponsor. They're a shitty company to work for. Maybe I'm just biased because what they did seriously impacted my family's life, negatively. And the payout from the class action was pathetic.
