Oh, @Ahoy Hoy ... common’... O.o Suuuuuure @Lsat0902 needs a headphone-amp. Heh heh.

If the M40x are anything like my elderly Sennheiser HD5... or Sony MDR7510, they’ll be satisfied with the amp found in a smart phone or laptop audio jack (if there’s weird buzzing in the background, an external amp might help).

Fancy DACs are  still really pricey here in Toronto. I wonder if a Dragonfly DAC would be a fun dongle for @Lsat0902 to use...

Move along people nothing to see here

LOL!:D But I do agree, the M40X is quite efficient and should be easily driven by onboard audio and smart phones.

@Lsat0902I know there's always that urge to spend to upgrade a perceived weakness in your audio chain, but the M40X doesn't need a DAC stack/combo or amp. IF you really wanna upgrade your audio, start with replacing the M40X with something better and move on from there.

The M40X are pretty good unless he wants to spend close to 250+$ or maybe try open backed. @Lsat0902 Spend the money on getting good quality audio content to listen to.
