GTX 750 ti stormx weird(?) benchmarking results?!

I got 2 GTX 750 Ti cards for 5$ each. I know they're old cards but here in Philippines they still go for 55$ - 65$ which I can use to buy a 1060.

The cards are from Palit but differ in design.

Palit GTX 750 Ti StormX OC (Single Fan) Graphics Clock 1085MHz / Boost Clock 1163MHz

Palit GTX 750 Ti StormX Dual (Dual Fan) Graphics Clock 1202MHz / Boost Clock 1281MHz

I benchmarked them on my Mother's PC before selling them and I got quite weird(?) results. And I'm not really sure why... none of them were OC'd (when benchmarking and from original owners)

Mom's PC specs:

Intel I3 4170

8GB DDR3

H81M DS3V

400W PSU

1080p HD Monitor TV.

I used Furmark and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor as benchmarking softwares since I don't really have much choice. My Unigene.Heaven download was corrupted, and I can't afford 3DMark. Here are the results:

Single Fan: Furmark | Average 38 fps | 65  C / 149 F

Shadow of Mordor: Medium Settings | Average 59 fps | 69 C / 156.2

Dual Fan: Furmark | Average 32 fps | 57 C / 140 F

Shadow of Mordor: Medium Settings | Average 55 fps | 61 C / 141.8

On paper, the Dual Fan variant should perform better than the Single Fan-- having higher GPU Clock, Boost Clock and twice as many fans to prevent thermal throttling, but my results says otherwise. I probably shouldn't think too much about it since I'm gonna sell them off anyway but it still bother me... can anyone may haps provide some insight?

My best guess is the Dual Fan was used more than the Single Fan but quite unsure.

Just have to ask, are you sure you got a 750Ti?

Pull off the heatsink and check the GPU core to make sure it's not a scam card.

A 750Ti will say GM107 on the core, a scam card will not.

It makes sense that the single fan card will run a few degrees hotter than the dual fan, due to a small heatsink.

@Crunchy Dragon is correct.

Just to add, the basic edition of 3DMark is FREE, so you don't *NEED* to pay.

Unigine Valley might be a good one too.

The latest, Unigine Superposition, might be worth a shot too -- though it's targeted for higher-end cards.

Agreed, are they really 750Ti's? I know people who've bought very cheap "750Ti's" from facebook sellers only to find out they were GT 430's. I live in the Philippines too.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

I've popped out the heatsink, and it says GM107 - 400- A2 on the core.

Even if they are 10 bucks isn't a huge loss.

OK, at least that's been confirmed.

Cards don't really age in performance physically. The differences you're seeing might just be a difference in silicon quality. Some cards will be able to run higher clocks and more efficiently just because of the chip they have. It's complete luck what you get.

That's an F in the profile pic

But now... I ran into a different problem. The Dual Fan now gives me AGP Error on boot (1 long beep, 3 short beeps) a restart 1 - 5 sometimes make it go away.

I've spoken with the previous owners and the Single Fan was used for about 2-3 months, whilst the Dual Fan was used for about 2 years.

So, I guess "wear and tear" is the factor?

Sorry to ask, I'm a bit of a noob.

Silicon, chips? 2 GTX 750 Ti from the same manufacturer have different chips on them or are you talking about the "build quality" as they were rolling down the factory?

UPDATE: I've fixed the AGP Error (beep code) error by re-installing drivers.

I also ran into another problem where my GPU usage was at 100%  on idle with 34 C (idle temp) but I've reseated the GPU/rebooted and it was fixed. Ran Furmark and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor again

And got 10 - 20 more FPS more than the Single Fan, and got the temp to go down at 46 ~ 50 C at full load.
