High CPU Usage Folding@Home

Just starting Foldinghome today. My CPU (i7 2600) is not a Folding Slot, but my usage is still high (46%). It also causes my computer to get the BSOD.

Is this normal?

What does your task manager (Windows) or tops (Linux) show on which applications using the processor resources?

That is a tad high for just feeding GPUs (guessing you using nVidia cards?)

The task manager shows FahCore_21 with 13% usage. Please see below.

Yes, I am using nVidia cards.

Ah, so you got three GPUs. Yeah, the usage is going to be up there then. nVidia cards have overhead when folding. Since that is a 4/8 CPU, each card will usually pull one thread for their usage.

By the looks, each core 21 is demanding around 13.5-14% from the CPU. So, that around average of 40% usage from the CPU since you got three core 21s being crunched.
