Forget the network, clear any DNS or options you have set, connect, use edge to open a non cached website and maybe then it'll pop up. Otherwise you might have to ask IT to enter in a custom DNS

Hello, so I'm enrolled in College and I bring my Mac with me for notes and writing, I can log in to our wifi network in about 2 seconds because when I join the network, I'm presented with this prompt or a similar one that allows me to log in to our network.

Now that is fine and dandy, just Apple being the good guy and looking to make users lives easier.......my problem is with Windows 10.....

 

I run Bootcamp on this machine and absolutely no prompt exists like this in Windows 10. I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get access to the internet. Windows 10 thinks the DNS server is not responding...but the real problem is that I can't log into the network to allow the DNS server to start sending me data! AHH!

 

How do I fix this and how is it that Microsoft could miss something so simple and critical to users as a simple "ask to join" network prompt?

Just keeping this here as a Now that is fine and dandy, just Apple being the good guy and looking to make users lives easier.......my problem is with Windows 10.....

 

I run Bootcamp on this machine and absolutely no prompt exist like this in Windows 10. I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get access to the internet. Windows 10 thinks the DNS server is not responding...but the real problem is that I can't log into the network to allow the DNS server to start sending me data! AHH!

 

How do I fix this and how is it that Microsoft could miss something so simple and critical to users as a simple "ask to join" network prompt? 

first off, how far up has Apple shoved that stick up your ass? Second, copy that link from the apple browswr and paste it into the Windows side browser. do this by sending the link to an external device u can then access in Windows (i usually use skype or smth)

Side note: The uncached website should be available without HTTPS because that can interfere.

Microsoft did not miss this, its simply not something you would want to react to by default because they are essentially intercepting your connecting to send you on the landing page.

 

which is something you should not be doing but apparently became a standard, with windows you will land on this page once you open any page in the web browser because thats the first time you will make any connection they can intercept to send you to the landing page.

Honestly have never encountered this issue. I would always just open up a website and it would pop up.
