Because you're supposed to be better than the other person.  "When they go low, we go lower" is not a good strategy for life in general.

It's a perfectly valid analogy  You're depriving a creator of money they're owed for your viewing.  And just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right.

 

And besides, if you feel that directly contributing to a streamer makes up for ad blocking, will you promise to always subscribe to every streamer you watch for more than a few minutes?  No?  Of course not, because this was never about preferring alternative methods for supporting streamers, just selfishness.

That doesn't mean you're justified in blocking ads.  It's the sense of entitlement that's the issue here -- you're convinced that ad-free viewing across Twitch is a divinely-granted right, not a feature that Amazon chose to provide.  You don't have to like the change, and it's certainly a regression, but don't act as if you're 'owed' ad-free viewing at all costs.  Watch the ads, subscribe to the channel, or use another service; don't hurt innocent creators out of spite for Amazon.

No Twitch is depriving the creator of money. The service I paid for is no longer supporting the creator. You're trying to take a moral high ground to which all you're doing is protecting a large company making very poor choices to screw over streamers and actual customers in an attempt to double dip.

i'd say using AdBlock is a negotiating tactic to try to tell Amazon not to remove ad-Free from prime. Cynical and likely to give Twitch less revenue than it might have hoped for?  You bet.  Illegal?  No

EDIT: Besides, most creators now out there are starting to use either Patreon or some sort of other kind of way to earn a bit of money.

Most malware is being delivered via Ads over the past 2 or 3 years. I agree 100% and why I endorse ad blockers. If sites got their shit together I would remove them.

I never mentioned ad blocking. I was just explaining why people are upset about the change. What they decide to do has nothing to do with the fact that a feature people paid for is now no longer there even though they're still asking for the same amount of money.

 

By the way, affiliates don't make ANY money from ad revenue, on top of that they only get 50% of subs. You have to be a twitch partner to make any ad revenue, and it's like pennies per 1000 views probably before twitch takes their cut. We also don't know if they're going to penalise streamers for turning off ads for their subscribers.
