gtx 660ti sli or Radeon hd 7970 ghz edition?

COCOBYTES

No need to ask, it's a certainty that SLi'ed GTX660 Ti is faster than a single GTX680/HD7970 Ghz Ed.....I recall reading somewhere that even 2x GTX650 Boost is able to beat a top end single GPU card (GTX Titan is excluded simply because of its ludicrous pricing).

SLI is better than xfire but I still so not like it. I would go for the 7970 unless I needed cuda or physx.

If you already have a single 660Ti then I would recommend getting a second one and run them in SLI.

If this is a new build, or you are upgrading from a generation or two ago then I would go with the 7970.

In straight out performance tests, the 660TI's in SLI will often outperform a single 7970. Now because you're talking about a 7970 Ghz card, I would expect that gap to close a little however in certain games such as Witcher 2 and BF3, the SLI'd 660 Ti's will still win.

The issue however with running SLI is that of driver optimisations and errors. It's less noticeable with a dual GPU setup however it can still occur. With a single card you also get less heat produced and less power drawn = lower running costs.

Just something to think about..

If I recall correctly in most of Linus' tests with the GTX titan the SLI GTX660ti was EXTREMELY close to the performance of a titan.

The first step to insanity is believing in your sanity.

I would get the 7970 and then you have the option to get a second one later on if you ever need more performance

The boost can not beat the GTX 680 nor Matrix 7970

Not sure about the Matrix, but a pair of GTX650 Boost SLi'ed would be faster than most GTX680 and HD7970 (including Ghz Ed). Let the number here speak for themselves...only caveat here is that the GTX650 Boost in SLi are running 314.21Beta vs 310.70 WHQL drivers for other NV cards....
