TBH Wendell runs Thunderbolt on Threadripper so this is only impressive, but not really impressive.

Wendell ran Optane on Ryzen using StoreMI awhile ago, so this isn't remotely impressive.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

Run SMART tests on StoreMI and see Windows give up faster than my parents expectations about my future.

I've asked on YouTube a few times but apparently my comments are too stealthy for people to notice.

Have you guys tried Intel's Smart Response Technology? It's much older than Optane, isn't locked down to only a particular kind of SSDs, but does require a higher-end Intel chipset... and is also a bit of a pain to set up with OS and cache being on the same drive. And it's also limited to 64 gigs of cache. And it leaves the cached drive usable on its own provided the last shutdown was "clean"/"soft".

Would be curious to see how it fares against Optane (its supposed successor?) and StoreMI (which bears quite a similarity).

still, an SSD is better and cheaper.

Honestly, just buying a regular SSD and HDD makes more sense and is so much easier. Doesn't even cost that much more.

StoreMI is just a free bonus to try for Ryzen

There’s two things that bothered me about this video. The first one is that they said that ONLY x470 boards get StoreMI, which is a lie since x399 and b450 also have access to it. And the second one is that they Installed Windows in the Optane drive and then used storeMI, when Windows should have been installed in the hard drive.

I think that Linus and co are more interested in making memes and cancer thumbnails than accurate content, specially when channels like Level1techs, Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed do a much better job at these kind of things with a WAY smaller budget.

I am glad that after singing the praises of Primocache on this forum for 3 years, it's gotten the attention that it deserves. The best part wasn't even mentioned, where you can use system memory to prevent mundane writes from even hitting the SSD, resulting in longer SSD lifespans. Having both a level 1 and level 2 cache is definitely practical for a ton of different situations.

This actually sounds quite nice. If I soon(TM) get to make a new PC build, I'm defo adding Primocache to the build list (first time software other than Windows gets added :P).

I'll just need to make sure I get my head around automatic backups/archiving so if I do mess something up, a recovery is easier. But as said in the video, it's a cache solution that does NOT scramble/encrypt your HDD. :)

Can PrimoCache speed upp loading time for games from Networks disk (Unraid)? Even if windows often don't mount a networks share when you login and you must do it manually (30 yer old Windows bugg).

Wait, At 8:00, Does it mean i can use some of the system storage as RAM? Or just make some of the storage a cache?

I just tried Primocache with my old Samsung 850Evo (250GB) and my Seagate Firecuda (2TB) after seeing this video. For me it really sped up my loading times. I tested it in games like Rainbow Six Siege, Rise of the Tomb Raider, etc. Will using my old SSD as a cache drive wear it out very fast or is it still reasonable?

Will not do what you think it does. You do not seem to know what this option does or what twin heads will do.

You do not understand the concept of lying So it is not correct that what Linus presented is a LIE.. If he knowing knew something but purposely said something that was false, then he would be lying and it would be a lie.. If he said something that was in factual error then he did not lie he was just incorrect or wrong. Do not say someone is lying unless you know it was a statement said on purpose in order to deceive. You would say " The first one is that they said that ONLY x470 boards get StoreMI " This is incorrect. x399 and b450.

Also you must realize that this Video was probably filmed before x399 got StoreMI (they did not get it till This month) and b450 did not come out till end of July.. So in FACT Linus and LTT did NOT lie at the time of making this video and they were correct.. This happens many times in things like this as technology advances so quickly. Things get updated or new things come out all the time making parts of what is reported now not precisely correct.

At this point you could say.. X399 and the new b450 now also have the Free StoreMI.. This would be a more appropriate comment.. Not that they LIED.

I know this is old but fingers crossed that someone from LMG will see it. When you switched to PrimoCache did the Optane drive run out if memory like with StoreMI?

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!
