Nvidia GTX 2060 3D Marks Score Leak

You read that right, if these numbers are to be believed, we’re looking at GTX 1080 performance in the mid-range with Turing. And not any GTX 1080 at that, but an overclocked GTX 1080. If this leaked 3DMark entry is legitimate, it indicates that what we’ve heard about the GTX 2060 from AdoredTV’s source is actually true. Both in terms of the 5GB GDDR6 memory and the GTX prefix for the 2060.

The article on the WCCftech website claims to have leaked 3D Mark Score from a brand new GTX 2060. The results show a score that matches the one of a current GTX 1080 which is a huge upgrade over the current generation GTX 1060, that it is going to replace. 

 

My thoughts:

We waited for the new Turing architecture for a long time now. If the leaks are to be believed, than the wait was worth it, and my rig will soon be running a new 2060.

1080s are 20,000+pts on Firestrike.

 

Even 1070s are getting more pts no problem.

Its not exact surprising considering the 1060 is roughly equal to the 980

I'm very suspicious of the person who made an account just to post something like this. The whole Nvidia rumors' galore as of late has made me suspicious of even credible tech websites.

ROFL. No overclocked 1080 scores 22.5k GPU score. 2100MHz+ you're looking at 25k+ maybe as high as 27k depending on what your memory is sitting at.

 

Doesn't help that it's getting choked by that processor that's only pulling in 11.4k.

 

And that combined...yikes.

If they hope to remain competitive in the face of the next-gen NVIDIA GPU series and Intel's entry into the market come 2020, then they definitely need to ditch the GCN architecture. It's what caused me to switch back to Team Green a couple years ago. My brand new in-box R9 390 was not the performance value I expected it to be, and so I bought a 1070 and sold the 390 to some bloke in Venezuela.

I'm a regular viewer of the WAN show, so I decided to join the forum ... finally. Next thing I know, I see an article in my Google Chrome news feed. So I guess ... lucky? :D

Yeah comparing to reference is silly. My 980ti was on par with a reference 1080. Then my 1080 OCed is well beyond these numbers. NVIDIA claimed the 1080 was 50% faster than a 980 yet in reality it’s nowhere near that.

Both. Rumor is there will be two lines, RTX and GTX. The RTX cards will be the 2070 and up with the GTX cards being 2060 and below. The RTX cards have the fancy ray tracing stuff while the GTX cards will not.

The better question to ask is if AMD will be able to make a card that has the same performance, with the same workload types.

The problem is you can't use the same setup for raytracing and tensor functions, as you would with the standard rasterization technique.
