new hardware crushes old

isnt the i3 8350k just a 7700k without hyperthreading? If so Intel just shot the 7th gen line up behind the barn with no remorse

An i5 8600K is more a better comparison to the 7700K. The 7700K is still a decent CPU, but doesn't have that price to performance ratio.

I also wouldn't call a 7700K "old".

hi.

Why not say 8350k is a 7600k with Coffee Lake benefits (more clock speed)?

Intel's 7th gen CPU, including most X299 are all doomed to varying degrees. The locked ones first get slapped by Ryzen CPU (and APU a bit later),. then all 2-6 core ones get blown to pieces by Coffee Lake. The rest of them gets a big smack from Threadripper. The 7980XE is the only one still in the game atm (LN2 benchmark king), but 2990WX beats it when it comes to being practical and when LGA3647 comes to the rich enthusiast market the 7980XE will lose its crown as well.
