What PSU wattage is enough for a ryzen 1700 and a gtx 1080 ?

300W at stock. The lowest wattage PSUs that aren't crap start at about 400-450W, which will be plenty for overclocking. 

Without knowing the availability, pricing or what case you're putting it in (stuff that should've been in the OP), I'll recommend the Straight Power 11 450W, Whisper M 450W, RM550x (2018), RM550x or Formula 450W. Some lower end PSUs are fine, but since you're getting a 1080, I'm assuming you can afford a nicer PSU.

550W is probably the easiest to locate a decent power supply.

How will it be close when overclocking? You're not going to go from under 300W to near 450W with normal overclocking. Either way, being "close" isn't an issue, as any decent PSU is rated for full power continuously.

I'm aware but if one were to go to say a 1080 Ti or 2 1080s in SLI

Why would anyone go from a 1080 to a 1080 Ti? And why would anyone run 1080s in SLI? They don't seem like likely upgrades.

Why would anyone go from a 1080 to a Ti? Why would anyone upgrade ever? Why aren't you using a 386DX? If one finds a good deal on a used 1080 that's what I'd do in that situation

Upgrading is one thing. Upgrading to a GPU one tier higher and of the same generation is another. At stock, the 450W should be plenty for a 1080 Ti.

Spending money to run two 1080s so they can improve the performance in some games. Not necessarily worth it.

but guys actually i don't have a ryzen 1700 and a gtx 1080 just was curious what PSU you nice gentleman would recommend and seon123 thanks for the help you helped me like 3 times this day you helped me get to get the Corsair carbide 275R and get an SSD and the swap the X370 for a B350. So i just want to say Thanks for helping we need more people like you ;D
