From reading the part where they have close to 500 claims open in court, i'd say their intention is not to win, but to keep it in court and never pay the actual taxes. The amount they'll pay in legal fees is nothing compared to takes on a billion dollar property

That much is true. Same happens when companies get fined billions. They'll keep it in the courtroom for decades.

Sad state of affairs when going to court to argue about taxes is cheaper than just paying the taxes. That's what they're doing, they'd rather sepend x million dollars in lawyers than x billion dollars in taxes. They'll keep it in the courts forever, and never have to pay it.

You're paying for build quality.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

How can companies not be found guilty of tax evasion for such practices? I mean it's clear as day that's what they are doing with how many open cases. Normally courts have the decision to throw out law suits if they are deemed ridiculous. I don't get why such appeals wouldn't be simply thrown out of court immediately based on how dumb an assessment of 200 dollars for a building that it's door is probably worth more.

Let’s assume for a moment that Tim Cook, Apples tax department and income managers were all in on this and thought it would fly.......

That would be incredibly stupid. You don’t build the worlds most valuable company in the world and then squander it by committing tax fraud after you just hit $1 Trillion.....

Now lets also assume for a moment that there might be a disgruntled employee, a error when filing their paperwork, or corporate espionage.....

Now between those two hypothetical scenarios, which one do you think makes more sense?

Spoiler

Or they figured out that keeping their tax litigations in court is cheaper than actially just paying taxes. In that case the blame is on Congress and the House for letting BS like that stand.

Apple essentially has internal security and investigators, so once we get an official statement those people will have probably already been dispatched if the later case is true rather than the former.

Oh didn’t think of that. Solid strat. Congress and the House should do something about it.

Until then though.....? It’s legal.

Apple doesn't want to pay taxes. How is this news anymore?

I mean for good reason. When you have all this cash laying around getting taxed at the corporate tax rate is a big blow. Imagine for a second than any corporation payed its fully owed taxes without any deductions or anything......Taxing Apples revenue at something close to 35%+ every year is brutal.

Of course! They are going to explore every avenue to protect their cash and not pay taxes on it. You would too.

That being said the loopholes should be closed so companies like Apple have no choice. But until then, they are just taking measures that they can fight that they are right on.
