Sould I get 1080 144hz or 1440 60hz monitors

jakester0565

Should I go for high refresh rate or resolution, I am looking for new monitors for my gaming and editing rig and I was wondering if it should go for higher refresh rate or resolution like 1080 144hz or 1440 60, and i wanted them to have thin bezels and not be too expensive since i use two monitors

Depends if you play a lot of games with fast motion. If so, I'd go for 144hz.

If not, go for the 1440p.

Though, honestly, I'd just wait for Black Friday and get a 1440p 144hz monitor on sale. Or wait for one to pop up, save a little longer.

It'd also be helpful if you listed your system spec so we could see which you'd benefit more from.

I bought an ultrawide because I wanted to push a few extra pixels when I first got my gtx 1060. However, you'll probably see a more visceral upgrade to the high refresh rate monitor.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Why not both? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-27-led-qhd-gsync-monitor-black/5293502.p?skuId=5293502

Not sure what the price is for the monitors you're looking at, but the S2716DGR is on sale again for $369.99 US, which is a really good deal. If this is for a future purchase, definitely wait until closer to Black Friday if you can for a 1440p/144Hz monitor, as they tend to drop to the $3-400 range instead of $600+

  • I would try and go for 2 1440p monitors and depending on your setup if u mainly game on one monitor make that one 144hz and the other 60hz. If you game on both then i would take the high refresh rate over resolution. Ultimately if you can afford it 1440p at 144hz is ideal. and yes once u go 60+ fps u wont want to go back.
