I have a question. I am thinking about upgrading my personal server and can't quite decide if this CPU is what I should go with or not. I use it for Plex and running handbrake for converting. Would it even be useful to go all the way with the 2990WX? Would these applications even scale to utilize this processor for transcoding? Or would it be so little difference that I should just get the 16 core?

my newbie question of the day : how do i determine, or find the information, for which motherboard will have it's bios updated so that it's just plug and play compatible, with this CPU (or any other newer CPU for that matter) , relative to the motherboards bios's update -- i'd hate to buy all the parts for a balln' Christmas build, and have my kid need to wait 4-6 weeks for a dummy CPU just so he can update the bios
