Yet another question about the 1180

So i've been planning on building a new gaming pc that can also be used as a workstation (gonna have a ryzen 7 2700x w/ 16 gbs of 3000 ram). The only problem is the graphics card. I want a high end card and I've been eyeing a gtx 1080 for a while now, but now with the recent news of the "confirming" that the 1180 will be released around August 30th makes me wonder if I should just wait for the that and the extra 200$ that comes with the price. The age old question of should I wait for the 1180 or 1170? or just grab a 1080. Also im only gonna be gaming on two 1080p 75hz ultrawide monitors, so I think I would be fine with a 1080, any second opinions?

If the 1080 does what you need/want then wait for the new cards to release and the price to drop on the 1080 and get it. Or if budget is not so important just get the best you can afford.

Id get wait fir 1070 or a 1170. Imo 1080 isnt worth just go for 1080ti.

The 1070 1080 and 1080ti are all the same Pascal microarchitecture. He would be better off with an 1170 than a 1080ti, especially if the 1170 Turing GPUs have tensor cores and support ray tracing.

How do you know the performance of the 1170, we all just have to wait.

You can approximate based on the node, yearly increase in transistor density and historical improvement given the chip size(100, 104, 107).

You can roughly know what a chip will be like years in advance actually.
