Fortnite for Android Beta launches with hefty requirements | Budget and Midrange Phone owners need not apply

It is exceptionally popular on Twitch (Fortnite streamer Ninja holds the record for the most live viewers) and while it is a more sandbox like shooter, not a pure bred shooter it is still closely related with many similar mechanics and so isn't as "easily" playable on a touchscreen.

I was just saying Fortnite is not a twitch shooter. "Twitch shooter" does not refer to "shooter played on Twitch.tv". Twitch shooter is a genre of shooter games which are fast phased.

You won't get the same experience on a phone as you do on a computer, but I think it will work somewhat decently.

The big problem I see with mobile games is that you don't have the same speed and precision as on a desktop. But Fortnite is not exactly a fast game, and if everyone on in the game has the same precision handicap then I don't think it will be too big of a deal.

Anyway, I think Fortnite on mobile will work fine. Not the best experience, but probably good enough for most people.

The requirements seems pretty fair too.

Am lucky to have s9+ its supported ?

But when and how can I download it?

It's available in the Game Browser. Search for it in your settings if it isn't enabled.

But good luck running it. It stutters really badly on my S9.

"Twitch game(play)", are games (or elements in games) where you need very fast reaction time and response. For example Quake 3 is a twitch shooter.

It's an old term which twitch.tv is named after.

Thank you and I'm not sure Fortnite would be classed as so then !!

Fortnite is not a twitch-shooter though.

Well, you can obviously tell I don't play Fortnite, having said that I still don't understand why people would play shooters at all (twitch or otherwise) on a touchscreen device.  I play some games on my phone, but none of them are shooters.

I do want to point out to the three of you that on the Android side a tooooooooooooooooooon of players, particularly players in Asia, use mice and keyboards with their phones for games. Everything from VainGlory to PUBG to Modern Combat.

These are players who will use any advantage they can. Expect the matches to be full of players using keyboard and mouse.

201[5] Apple SoCs vs 2016 Android SoCs. Really shows the performance leads Apple has carried over the years.

From the performance issues on even brand spanking new Android devices that blow the 6S out of the water, I think it's more about design decisions of the port than the performance lead those chips have.

The 820 was the first chipset to support the Android Extension Pack (Basically most of what because OpenGL 3.2) and those features, which this game is probably leveraging, we're never ported back to older Chipsets.

And please do note that the 820 and the A9 were released at the same time. The 820 finished taping out and had a press announcement of it's  release a month before the iPhone 6S launched. The first phone with the 820 came out 4 months later because if you're using someone else's chip you need time for testing and validation which Apple can take care of by combining the design phases.

lol why, like just buy a PC and immediately have a better experience. If you need to buy an expensive phone to get fortnite working, it's much better spend on something that can  have a much better experience.

iPhone 6S & SE can play it but a modern mid-ranger cannot? Fuck Epic.

Edit: Not to mention iPun gets away with 2GB RAM pfft... Why does Android require 3? ITS A CONSPIRACY!!! O3O

This.  I tried Fortnite on my iPhone and uninstalled it within 5 minutes.  It's an app that shouldn't even exist for how awful the experience was.  Even moving while looking around was painful, let alone shooting which is kinda *key fucking component*.  Building was completely out of the question.

I can guarantee you though that there are tryhards who plug full on controllers into their phones to play fortnite and pretend they're good because they can stomp on people playing with 2 thumbs and a touchscreen.

Meanwhile Fortnight on iOS can run on iPhones all the way back to the iPhone 6s and SE. Those phones are running SoCs from 2014 and they run the game well. Props to Apple for putting so much effort into CPU and graphics performance and making Metal to take advantage of all of that performance.

the s7 and the 6s are launched 5 months apart. While yes apple has put better GPU in almost all there phones then most android chip manuf  its not a crazy amount longer and most would consider it the same generation.
