Ive recently installed Windows 7 (64 bit) on my computer and since then, i can sleep the computer but cannot fully wake it back up again,

when i press the sleep option on windows, everything turns off including the fans of the computer but when i press any key on the keyboard, the fans start spinning again, but nothing shows up on my screen

i end up having to force shutdown and restart the computer. (the computer screen is completely empty, nothing shows up on the screen at all)

i5-4690k

16gb RAM

gtx 980

boot drive is a samsung 128gb SSD 840 PRO

id appreciate any help if possible. thanks in advance

Microsoft doesn't support Windows 7 anymore, why did you install it?

01 . Find Which Device can Wake up Your Computer

Open CMD and run the following command :

powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

It will show you the list of devices that are configured to wake your computer up. If your keyboard or mouse is not listed, you need to enable the “Allow this device to wake the computer” setting in your computer...

02. Stop Windows from Powering Off USB Devices

Windows is set to shut down your USB devices in sleep mode to save power by default, sometimes it won’t be able to power it back up..

03. Enable USB Wakeup in Your Computer’s BIOS

hope that's helping for you ... :)

Microsoft's support of Windows 7 continues until 2020. Windows 7 will continue to be functional long after that, too.
