Which fan option would be better?

Recommended Posts

I'm stuck choosing the fans for my pc. I want something silent that pushes enough air trough my case, but I don't know which one to choose.
My options are: the Noctua NF-F12, the bequiet! Shadow Wings 120mm and the Corsair Air Series SP120.

Or should I go for something else?

The case I have right now is the Corsair Carbide 88R. For extra info, I want to cool my I5 3350p with the Cryorig M9i cooler, and my GTX 1060 AMP! 6gb

dont know about the shadow wings, but omg not the SP120. They are deafening under high speed, but weak under low speed. Bad

Studying abroad, ditched the crappy laptop for a do-all laptop double. Dried factory CPU paste, long memory timings, cooler cools the inductors but not the mosfets and an inch of unused internal space on both left and right

Model: HP Omen 17 17-an110ca CPU: i7-8750H (0.125V core & cache, 50mV system agent undervolt) GPU: GTX 1060 6GB Mobile (1696MHz 0.812V ~ 1860MHz 0.95V) RAM: 12GB DDR4-2666 19-19-19-43 2T Storage: 128GB Toshiba NVMe SSD (KBG30ZMV128G) + 1TB Seagate 7200RPM 2.5" HDD (ST1000LM049-2GH172) Monitor: 1080p 120Hz IPS G-sync

The best thing to do is reading the clock speed that doesnt end in a pair of zeros. Software voltage readings are wrong if your motherboard's not a high end model

CPU: i7-2600K 4493MHz (multiplier: 43x) 1.35V (software) --> 1.4V at the back of the socket Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 (BCLK: 104.5MHz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 RAM: Adata XPG 2x8GB DDR3 (XMP: 10-11-11-30 2T 2133MHz, custom: 10-11-10-30 1T 2229MHz) GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (main boot drive), Transcend SSD370 128GB PSU: Seasonic X-660 80+ Gold Case: Antec P110 Silent, 5 intakes 1 exhaust Monitor: AOC G2460PF 1080p 144Hz (OC'd 150Hz) TN Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion (Cherry MX Blue) with SteelSeries Apex M260 keycaps Mouse: BenQ Zowie FK1

Noctua fans triumph over the rest for performance, the BQ Shadow Wings are nice for quiet operation, and then the Air Series SP fans are budget options.

Here's a google sheet with a ton of fans.

I'd recommend anything from Noctua, BeQuiet!, or NoiseBlocker.

Fan Comparisons          F@H          PCPartPicker         Analysis of Market Trends (Coming soon? Never? Who knows!)

Designing a mITX case. Working on aluminum prototypes.

Open for intern / part-time. Good at maths, CAD and airflow stuff. Dabbled with Python.

Please fill out this form! It helps a ton! https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/841400-the-poll-to-end-all-polls-poll/

If 140mm fans fit, I'd strongly recommend going with them over 120mm fans.

Those listed below are 140mm fans:

140mm sadly doesn't fit. I'm stuck with 120mm. Still better than a 90mm fan
But thanks for the google sheet!
And it's just tough (at least for me) to pick between Noctua and Be Quiet. Both say they are silent, but I'm not entirely sure how silent they are. Plus I don't have a lot of money to spend, yet I want something that can replace the stock 120mm fan from the case, won't be loud, but will still preform decently.

These Noctua P12 Redux fans are on the more affordable side (At $14 each). You'd need to adjust the fan curve down a bit for silence but should still move quite a bit of air at full speed without being too loud.

If you're looking for even cheaper, there's the PW2 Bequiet! (At $10 each). Again, the same thing applies about the fan curve.

SP120's are noisy. NF-F12's perform better than SW's but aren't as quiet. Are these the only options available to you? If not, what's your budget? Can you link us to where you're shopping?

Not my only options, I just think those are "the best" from my past knowledge
And the store isn't in english, I think, but I'll link it anyways on the fan section

https://www.mlacom.si/racunalniska-oprema/ventilatorji-in-pribor

I don't really have a budget since I'm saving up on my cash. But once I get some I'll buy at least 3 good quality fans
as long as a singular fan doesn't cost like 30 or above each..

I'm not looking for RGB fans or anything fancy, I just want good preforming, mostly silent fans.

Slipstreams are good: https://www.mlacom.si/ventilatorji-in-pribor/scythe-slip-stream-sy1225sl12lm-p-120mm
