Where can I find a R sku Haswell processor?

The processors in question are Haswell i5 and i7 based. They are the i5 4570R, i5 4670R, and the i7 4770R. They are the only Intel desktop processors available with Iris Pro HD5200 graphics.

I'm putting together a super tiny HTPC rig and I'm trying to grab as much CPU and GPU horsepower as I can. I want to stay away from APUs as I've already got a rig with one up and running.

The aforementioned processors are availble as "Tray only" which means they are sold exclusively to OEMs so they are incredibly tough to find if you are an end user.

I found two of them here:

http://www.upgradebay.com/Products/ProductInfo.aspx?Product=4670R

http://www.upgradebay.com/Products/ProductInfo.aspx?Product=i5-4570R

Problem is that they are asking almost twice as much as it would normaly cost.

If anyone knows where one could find one for close to "retail" price, please do let me and the rest of the community know. Maybe someone that has connections with an OEM could lend me a hand.

At any rate, suggestions are appreciated.

Find a local pc store that is a certified vendor and just order one from them, you will ofcourse pay a slight premium but nothing like those prices I don't think.

Quick google on it while playing mario galaxy on dolphin lol.

"As stated above, the i5-4570R and i5-4670R are not released as components that can be bought and installed in any socket 1150 motherboard. They are "BGA" socket CPUs which means they are soldered directly into the motherboard. You will need to buy a pre-built PC (like Dell or HP) to get a PC with the i5-4570R or i5-4670R whenever they become available.

Additionally, the Intel HD 5200 requires eDRAM (embedded DRAM) that has to be installed (soldered) on the motherboard. This is separate from RAM sticks that you can install yourself in any PC. The eDRAM are basically the same RAMchips found on all RAM sticks, but the chips are soldered directly into the motherboard. An Intel HD 5200 without eDRAM is simply known as the HD 5000or HD 5100 depending on the clockspeed.

Therefore, you will never be able to buy an Intel CPU with with the Intel HD 5200."

So the few you found the integrated might not even work?

Why not APU?

Why so much horsepower for a HTPC?

That's why I tell people not to browse the internet with their phone.

"Tray" means that they are not BGA. The eDRAM is integrated into the processor on a secondary die. It doesnt need to be soldered to a motherboard.

Did you guys not read that I already have an APU system?

Good idea, but I don't think vendors control that. Vendors are not OEMs and these processors are sold exclusively to OEMs such as Dell, Acer, HP, etc.

...and? Why pay more when you don't have to?

You could try buying a pre-built with what you want and swap the CPU for something else, then flip the machine online. I wouldn't do it myself but it's an option.

My rig: 2600k(4.2 GHz) w/ Cooler Master hyper 212+, Gigabyte Z68-UD3H-B3, Powercolor 7870 xt(1100/1500) w/AIO mod,

8GB DDR3 1600, 120GB Kingston HyperX 3K SSD, 1TB Seagate, Antec earthwatts 430, NZXT H2

Verified max overclock, just for kicks: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2609399

Yeah, alot of head ache and expenditure. Even if I were to do it, I can't find any pre-builts online that come with those processors.
