Do any of you have issues with your display port?

 

I've had this card 2 years and I frequently run into an issue where my monitor would seem to drop connection. It would usually fix itself when I plugged the cable into a different display port. Recently that doesn't work anymore. I've looked around for solutions for something concrete and found nothing.

 

One solution I found said to plug in an HDMI cable also to make the GPU think it's outputting to 2 different monitors. That worked for like 2 days. It also temporarily fixed itself after I upgraded to the most recent drivers.

 

I've seen this issue in a few places, but I'm not sure how prevalent this is. I didn't find anything on the AMD Reddit. Anyone else having these issues?

I just mean like from DP to HDMI or any other connection before hitting the monitor.

Nope. It's a freesync monitor and that only works on DP

My monitor does freesync via HDMI, but that's besides the point. 

Only have one monitor connected?

Yes, of course!

Because the Connector is garbage and not very reliable.

I've killed more Dislplay Port Cables in the last 3-4 Years than VGA Cables. And I used VGA for like 15-20 Years or so...

 

And with that said: The issue is most likely a defective or low quality cable. You need a really good quality cable and if you misuse it a couple of times, it dies...

Like @Stefan Payne suggested, I would try a different cable, I've gone through several brands with many issues and eventually landed on these:

Oh, wow. Didn't know faulty display port cables was a thing. I used a laptop for a long time before building this PC. I used the cable that came with my monitor, so I'm guessing they usually cheap out? I'll try your suggestion @TheAgnda and report.
