Generally so that they can advertise the feature and a long battery life. When it works, and it does work on Xiaomi phones, it is brilliant and is a built in way to combat rouge app wake locks.

Xiaomi's one actually works though.

It's not too aggressive and doesn't impede the experience much

As others has said it's hit or miss even when you set it to manual so that's still a big problem if it's not being consistent

Meh,  I'm not sure if it older EMUI related or what not but i have zero problem streaming/playing audio with the screen off using Youtube, Spotify, Twitch or bundled Music app. Doesn't matter if it thru phone speaker or audio jack or even bluetooth. I never get my audio abruptly cut off because of the power saving feature. Many fellow Mate 10/Mate 10 Pro user in my local forum never complain about this problem either. The only complain i often see is the phone don't play nice with their car Android Auto but apparently recent update fixed that.

Earlier in this thread i mentioned my Spotify often got killed by the power saving, but that only happen when i use it as remote to control Spotify on my office/home PC and not when i'm streaming some music with my phone.
