Interesting, but why would they not give the 9700k hyperthreading?

Wouldnt the 8700k with 6 cores, 12 threads be faster in some applications than an 8 core / 8 thread 9700k cpu? That would be strange.

HT is worth about 30% or so IIRC . 8700K should be slightly faster assuming that the program uses HT and uses it correctly.

12 core is too much for a Celeron XE, more like 6C/6T. I wanted to say 4C/4T, but they already exist.

Intel Xeon E5 1650 v3 @ 3.5GHz 6C:12T / CM212 Evo / Asus X99 Deluxe / 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 3000 Trident-Z / Samsung 850 Pro 256GB / Intel 335 240GB / WD Red 2 & 3TB / Antec 850w / RTX 2070 / Win10 Pro x64

HP Envy X360 15: Intel Core i5 8250U @ 1.6GHz 4C:8T / 8GB DDR4 / Intel UHD620 + Nvidia GeForce MX150 4GB / Intel 120GB SSD / Win10 Pro x64

HP Envy x360 BP series Intel 8th gen

AMD ThreadRipper 2!

5820K & 6800K 3-way SLI mobo support list

A HT-enabled part will be faster in a lot of tasks, actually, as the scheduler can keep two threads on the same Logical Core, lowering the latency between movement between the threads. The 9700k at 8c/8t should be slower the the 8700k in most multi-core applications. And run a good bit hotter while doing them.

The 9700k seems to really be a 8c8t CPU, only intel think its OK to sell a i7 class CPU with out HT that is on the die.

Maybe my next build will be Zen 2 after all.... Looking at this hurts my face
