How Do I Prevent Desk Dust Build-Up?

jiyeon

I have a matte white wood desk and it gets hella dusty several times a week, I think my room in general is a dust colony anyway, but my desk gets the brunt of it. Every 3 days I clean my desk so it's practically immaculate and free of dust, but a few days later, a visible layer of dust lies on my desk, and it's disgusting.

How would I go about slowing down dust build-up on my desk? It's unhygienic and affects my nose a lot so mid-Summer is a better time than ever to do something about my dust infection.

An air purifier might be able to help.  I used to have one, it helped a little.

Yeah, I thought about getting one, I used to have one but I don't recall how much it affected my dust count. May be worth a try once again though. :/

If it is really bad you should think about allergen immunotherapy or taking antihistamines. Other tips are not opening the window at day time or fabric against pollen in front of the windows. The next step would be a air purifier.

I don't have dust/pollen allergy but it really does irritate the nose is all. I'm liking the air purifier suggesion, having used one before I'm definitely going to go get one now.

Is there any major identifiable source of the dust? If you have pets, stuffed animals, down pillows, folded clothes, etc. it may be a good idea to either get them out of your room or store them somewhere else.

Since it's your desk, could the source be your PC?

I've had this issue even before I had my PC, and it can't be since I highly doubt the two exhaust fans from my PC are enough to fill my entire room with dust.

I don't have any pets or any plushes or anything fibrous which could cause dust build-up.

Whenever I'm in my room, I'll usually have my PC and monitor on, my phone by the side on my desk, and sometimes my TV on along with the Chromecast to stream music.

I checked my TV cabinet just now and it's just as dusty as my desk. :( It's not as dusty but the layer is there.

Hmm...I'm not sure, then. Is there anything else at all that might be the source?

Try opening your windows. Air circulation can help with that sometimes.

My Windows are always an inch or two open from afternoon until evening because of the Summer, this goes for the other rooms in my house and they don't seem to be generating as much as my bedroom. :(
