[Update] Issues with Replying to Topics on Firefox and Brave Browser

AlTech

So, I've been experiencing issues with replying to topics on Firefox recently.

Browser: Firefox 61.0.1 64 Bit

OS: Windows 10 Build 17134.167

User Agent String:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:61.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/61.0

I had to post this from a different browser since it wouldn't let me on Firefox. The text editor doesn't show up when creating a new topic or posting a reply to an existing topic.

Please fix. Thanks :).

Isn't that the screen to post a new topic, instead of replying to an existing one?

The text editor isn't showing up in both cases.

Might be some extension causing problems. FF 61.0.1 working fine for me (evidence: this post).

Check that there isn't anything downloading at background or otherwise using major part of your connection. This happens to me when I have something taking most of connection.

The same thing happens to me as well, latest version of Firefox and whatnot, but the text editor shows up after a while (also happens whenever I try to update my status)

Must be something with Firefox itself

EDIT: it also happens when I try to update my signature

What happens if you restart firefox with addons disabled (≡, Help, Restart with addons disabled)?

For everyone having this issue, if that doesn't solve it, can you press F12, and switch to the network tab, then load an editor. After 5 seconds, take screenshots of the network and console tabs, and post them here.

Hm, I'm on the same version of Firefox and haven't experienced this.  I'm betting it's an addon as well but I guess we'll see.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

So, if something were using a major part of my connection this would be normal?

It doesn't sound like normal behavior to me. How badly does the IPS Suite need internet bandwidth to load forum components?

I think its more about Firefox and Win10 than forum. Other sites load very slowly too so its probably that Firefox gets less priority. Limiting download speed or pausing gets it fixed right away. This hasn't been a thing for long, but I have no idea when it started and if its Windows update or Firefox update or both which is causing it.

Even when I'm not using anything that requires a lot of bandwidth I'm having this issue.

Ideally, to eliminate it as a potential cause, though you don't necessarily have to disable the addons at the same time as taking the screenshot (just at some point to make sure it still occurs).

Okay, so it happened again just now and I've attached a fair few screenshots. Hopefully this helps.:)

If you hover over "plugin.js:1" at the right end of the first error of those, it should give a path like https://linustechtips.com/main/applications/core/interface/ckeditor/plugins/<something>/plugin.js - what's the value of <something> in that?

Can you post the contents, as it is on a browser that is broken, of https://linustechtips.com/main/applications/core/interface/ckeditor/ckeditor/plugins/ipssource/plugin.js?t=I3IE (in a code tag)?

Also, might be useful to have https://linustechtips.com/cdn-cgi/trace, without the IP if you prefer.

Thanks. The first one with the mangled stuff is very definitely not supposed to look like that. Can you try clearing your cache, then see if it looks more normal (and the editor works) after that?

I'm somewhat concerned that you might have just stumbled upon a cloudflare bug similar to cloudbleed though, because I'm not sure what else could have caused that.
