  1. 1. Floor or desk?

    • Floor (including PCs on top of stuff at floor level.)
    • Desk

Yeah, noise is one of my concerns too, when it's on the floor you hear it "more silently".

i don't really mind, since my only audio source is headphones. so i always have headphones on. besides a pc like mine that consumes 500 - 600 watts or more under load needs decent cooling...

Noise should not be a big issue for modern PCs, (if yo are using stock cooler from intel)

get some quiet fans running at low rpm, customize fan curve could help. and the case seals off most noise too

I can barely hear any sound unless PC is under full load, a test bench on a table 3m away

Yeah I'm still with my Stock Cooler and i7 7700 runs really hot so when I'm gaming heavy tittles the CPU cooler tends to get loud (need to change it asap).
But if I do light gaming or productivity stuff it's really quite, despite being able to hear the HDD

for me the stock cooler is annoying because if i'm using a system that uses one and i do something, say i open firefox and it starts reloading all of my tabs, it ramps up immediately.

this was with an i5 7400...

Neither. It's too noisy and take too much space on the desk, but it sucks in dust like nobody's business when sitting on the floor, so my baby Frankenstein sits ubder the the desk on old box, some 30-ish cm above the ground. Not that it helps all that much....

Mind is on my desk next to me. Keeps dust to a minimum and gives me leg room. Then again my room is a catastrophe ATM... (RIP ADHD)

My PC's tower is where it is (in the pics) cause I don't really have anywhere else to put it. :/

(The FD is my current case.  Still have the Thor, but no longer using it, haven't figured out how best to get rid of it.)

And, once in a while it's probably a good idea to give my system a bit of a touch-up cleaning. :P
