Do you keep your PC on the floor or desk?

271 members have voted

  1. 1. Floor or desk?

    • Floor (including PCs on top of stuff at floor level.)
    • Desk

I've got my PC on the floor under my desk. Not ideal, but I have a cat and a very tall case (HAF 932 adv) and i'm paranoid of my cat jumping onto the top, causing it to topple over. Especially since I have my radiator on the top, so it's outputting nice warm air.

Where do you guys place yours?

Under my desk next to one of the cabinets holding my desk up.

No pets in my room, and even when I had my cat living in my room, there was never an issue with her tipping my PC. They're pretty sturdy..

Once I can get a new build going in a Fractal Design Node 202, I'll place it on my desk under my monitors.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

On the desk.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

I duct taped mine to the back of my office chair (where I go, it goes) and then take my comfy chair wherever I want and all I have to do is plug in my computer. Then I teamviewer into it on my iPad and boom, completely portable workstation. It's really nice because it's never in the way except for when I scoot my chair over the power cable and unplug it in the middle of a gaming session or something.

Join the Appleitionist cause! See spoiler below for answers to common questions that shouldn't be common!

Spoiler

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

Keep mine on an Ikea Alex drawer next to my desk. A little messy with the peripherals but I don't mind ^_^

Don't be fooled by the bottom line of my sig, that is just for my travels.

So you're telling me that Gaben is no God? Enough of your foolishness.

My hardware you ask? I'm using a Dell Inspiron 3217 Notebook... With an LG 25UM57.

I'm thinking i might do something similar. some kind of diy small desk just for my desktop, with another desk for my peripherals where i'd actually sit. I guess basically just a dresser with good air flow lol

On my desk. Much more convenient for plugging in stuff in the back and I have the room for it.

On top of my desk. It's not a high end PC, but it's still my baby. I don't want a lot of dust in it, so I keep it up off from the floor.
