Ebay transfer scam ?

The321

There is a seller on ebay that offers no refund and you can only pay by transfer. This is the first time I encountered this. Is this still a good seller ? He has 96% positive

Read the actual feedback itself to judge if it's legit feedback or not, also how much feedback is there?

Depends on how long their last sale was imo. Also depends on what it was and what you're buying.

There's a chance that their account may be compromised.

They may offer no refund, but I think that's actually against eBay's practices/T&Cs.

Also whether they respond to questions or not I'd say is an indicator that you should be checking out for.

Even if it has a lot of positive ratings it might still be a trick.  They could have got hold of an account with good rep or built one up with small items so they could do a big scam and make it worth it.

I only ever pay with PayPal. Check their transactions and see if they are from sales, not purchases. A lot of sellers do this to get easy feedback.

hi.

Don't do it. You don't have any protection if you don't use paypal.

Read this:

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/payment-policies/accepted-payments-policy?id=4269#section1

If it's not an allowed payment method(and the item isn't one on the allowed list for the restricted payments methods) report the seller to Ebay.

While it might be safe and some people do indeed operate that way to save costs, I wouldn't personally purchase anything that's sold like that.

Others have already pointed out the inherent risks, so I'll more or less leave you with:

Don't do it.

Out of curiosity, what are you trying to buy? Does it seem like a "too good to be true" deal?

You don't have to provide refunds, as things can be sold "as-is" with no expressed guarantee of any kind.

Gotta love those 1 cent China auctions. Even if you don't actually get anything they generally give you positive feedback.

Indeed. There is not really anything more to add to that explanation.

@The321 Any seller that expected me - as a buyer - to pay via an unsafe method would be treated as a scammer.

Idk if they have ebay skidforums type things but i know the skidforums people who steal Steam accounts(spreaders and stealers) and scam items would +rep each others scamming accounts with comments that made them look like legit traders. Never used ebay  myself but id imagine something like that might exist.

Don't do it. Friend got scammed like this. If you pay by transfer eBay have no evidence of the transaction that has happened. At that point they can't help you if you don't receive the goods.

every time (the both times I've used Ebay) I've used Ebay my credit cards have got hi jacked. I stay far away from that site. Use Amazon much better and the customer support are on your side I know people say use Pay Pal. I run all my finances through a credit card because I like the reap the rewards. Because of my credit card rewards I've build a new Pc for free, go on vacations and not pay a dime.

Use the credit card through paypal. Thats how i get my Amex points. Amazon marketplace isnt exactly great either. I stay away from Amazon, Ebay, Walmart, any stolen game key resellers like G2A or Kinguin. They all suck.

That's some real bad luck right there.

Why haven't you used PayPal? You can use PayPal with your credit card as well so you don't lose your credit card rewards.

What kind of "transfer"? As far as I'm aware, they can't not accept PayPal. They have to, since that's how eBay takes their cut of the fees.

I would never ever pay for something on eBay that wasn't via PayPal. The buyers protection on there is a life saver.
