Thieves Steal $27K Worth of Devices From California Apple Store

AlTech

Thieves have stolen $27K worth of Apple Devices from an Apple Store in Fresno, California.

The heist lasted less than a minute as 4 black men wearing hoodies ran into the store and stole Apple hardware on display.

Quote

Police are seeking the public's help to identify four thieves who robbed a Fresno, California, Apple Store over the weekend.

The theft took place on Saturday, July 7 at 11:30 a.m., according to a Facebook post from the Fresno Police Department. "Four black males entered the Fashion Fair Apple Store at 667 E. Shaw and stole over $27,000 in phones and computers," police wrote.

As you can see in the surveillance footage below, posted to YouTube by CBS New York, the entire heist lasted just seconds – blink and you might miss it. The robbers entered the crowded store, grabbed a bunch of MacBooks and iPhones from the display tables, and ran away.

A video of the incident was uploaded by CBS New York.

Fresno Police Department are offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.

Quote

At the risk of stating the obvious, if you rob an Apple Store, you're going to be caught on camera.

Anyone with information on the identities of the Fresno thieves can call the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867). The Facebook post notes that you can share what you know anonymously, and will "receive a cash reward for information leading to an arrest."

So yeah. This isn't the only time thieves have targeted Apple products in the past year. The day before the Fresno heist, thieves stole devices from an Apple Store in New York and earlier this year thieves stole over a hundred thousand dollars worth of Apple products from a BestBuy.

Whilst I'm not Apple's biggest fan, I don't think they deserve this and I do think the people who did this need to face justice.

Saleable goods cost it should say I think?  worth is a whole other meaning when items have such a big profit margin IMO.

Still, these guys should be caught and brought to justice.

I know.... they just stand there. they had plenty of people to tackle them and prevent them from leaving until the police arrived... especially if they ( the thieves) weren't armed

If they were armed... most thieves just want the money anyway(i.e. they dont actually /want/ to kill anyone). they probably would of drew their gun to stop the people and just ran off

You guys have clearly never been in a situation like this before. I can literally guarantee you none of you would do anything either. The entire video is literally only 38 seconds. They were gone long before anything serious could happen, that's literally the entire point of moving so quickly. The fact that that big dude stood at the door is pretty impressive, and he did better than i would have expected given he was shoved by 4 people at the same time.

besides who didn't stop them, why are they all just sitting on the table unprotected?

Image result for security tags for display computers

I used to work at staples and we had someone try to steal a laptop but they have stuff attached to them that prevents people from just grabbing and going like that. It's simple security.

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

That too. Where are all the Apple store employees? Last time I walked past an Apple store, there was at least one at every table plus another few floating around.

So one of them just drops the shit on the nearest table(those things aint glued to their hands ) and takes out a knife, stabs you and depending if there are more idiots might just run or if there are none takes them again and goes on his way, this will not slow them down for more than 10 seconds. Like I said, not worth it over some electronics.

Thieves are not the smartest people in the world. Your typical back alley druggie is more dangerous than most thieves. They don't have the nerve to attack, they only try to scare people.

Dissonance Shock. Happens to everyone when you're in a safe space & not being hyper aware of your situation. (Home Invasions work on the same principle.) 30-60s is how long it takes for most people to come to grips with the sudden environment change. These robberies have actually been pretty well thought out for how to do them.

Don't apple devices have unique identifiers that make them essentially impossible to rebirth?

This the new modern world, no-one cares if it does not affect them directly(or they think it does not affect them), they just pretend its not happening/look the other way.... Thats why i saved up money for a gopro, if i have an accident with motorbike then by default i will be the one at fault because of the stereotype that says "the biker was going too fast and didnt comply with the rules". And guess what, there gonna be no eye witness because everyone looked in the other way....
