Dt990 edition 250 ohm and soundblaster ae5 will it sound trash and will the surround sound bad?

If your buying high end headphones you should stick to stereo sound. Surround is just an effect applied to the sound to "simulate" surround sound. So yea in short it will sound like trash. Just stick to a high quality 2 channel source.

It's a fine soundcard so long as you don't have super low impedance headphones.

 

ultra-low 1Ω output impedance drives 16-600Ω headphones perfectly.

 

"ultra low" is really like 0.1 ohm, but for 250 ohm headphones you won't care.

Return that sound card it is very bad. Also the DT990 250ohm is very very sharp in the treble area. Painful to listen to. DT880 is much better IMO.
