ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Wifi Router

Hidden in the maze of ASUS's website is a unreleased Wi-Fi router with claimed 10 Gigabit wireless speeds. It has a similar look to that of the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300, but with a golden theme. ASUS appears to be putting it in the currently limited ROG lineup of wireless routers. It has features such as a quad core 1.8 Ghz 64 bit processor, Tri-Band wireless networking, 8 external antennas, 1GB of RAM and 256 MB of Flash memory, 64 and 128 bit encryption, two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, 4 LAN ports, and many ASUS branded features. No release date or price is currently being advertised.

So it's useless for every residential connection in the world and companies are going to use other solutions like ruckus or aruba. Sounds like a good purchase to me

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

I haven't been following much about gaming routers but are they worth it if you just use wired anyway. Maybe like those connection priority features for games and such. To prioritize for better ping in games.

Lol commercial routers are a joke. I built my pfSense router with a business grade access point with the ability to handle way more clients than this thing could dream of for about $100 less. I would bet mine can get the same or better signal range and probably the same throughput when multiple clients are connected as this thing.

Wireless will always have inferior latency compared to a direct Ethernet line. If you really need QoS, Ethernet also supports that.

Their is a 8 port switch for $200, and this has the Wifi of a $300 AP.

 

EDIT: I also don't get how this is a 10Gb/s WiFi router when the Wifi can only do 802.11ax (2.4GHz) : up to 1148 Mbps + 802.11ax (5GHz) : up to 4804 Mbps which if my math is right is only 5952 Mb/s. I think they are taking the 4 2.5Gb/s ports and adding them up or something.

EDIT: also based of how Wifi is rated, you have to divide those speeds in half, and that is the perfect expectations which is the real world is more around 50% of that.

 

Which would make it 287 Mb/s for 2.5Ghz and 1201 Mb/s 5Ghz in a real world scenario IF your other device can match that.

 

1Gb/s over WiFi is amazing but it is no even close to the marketed 10Gb/s
