Need motherboard advice -- 4 nvidia GPU's and 2 M.2 970 evo Pro

I need help navigating the motherboard maze.

I want to build a PC with 

Intel 8086 chip

4 Nvidia 1070i GPU's 

2m.2 970 evo Pro 1TB

64 GB ram .. eventually upgrade to 128 

What motherboard can handles this?

Are there going to be PCie bottlenecks?

Do i need a 1600 W power supply or is that overkill?

why would you need so many GPUs (that's not the top dog even), an overhyped CPU and so much RAM?

I'm a strong sli CF fan but anything more then two gpus is a waste of money.

CPU is OK

64G ram is way overkill unless you heavily using editing software or 3d software, maybe virtualization as well

GPU just get the 1080ti

storage is up to you

1070Ti doesn't support 4-way SLI and neither does the 1080Ti. Max 2 cards.

that chip has 16 available pcie lanes.  so 4 video cards and 2 m.2 drives are probably out of the question, not mention 4 way sli isn't a thing anymore.

I'm an animator  .. I want to build an affordable, powerful, and up-gradable Workstation.  

 

The more GPU core's the better for RedShift GPU rendering.  So Two 1070 ti's (which appear to be the best value for the amount of cores) and adding then two 1180ti when they eventually get released. 

 The RAM is for Adobe AfterEffects (a program that loves RAM). I could live with 64 but 128 is what i'm used to.

 

I thought the overclocked 8086 chip would be great for preview renders ...and the extra cores were nice for overnight renders.     

I'm having trouble figuring out the pcie lanes for a setup like this.  

It looks like a  i9, xeon or threadripper is mandatory to run 4 cards?

 

Any suggestions

There are 16 direct PCI-E 3.0 lanes to the CPU on Z370, with supported configurations of 1x16, 2x8, or 1x8+2x4. Four cards are simply not possible on mainstream platforms.

 

Threadripper is going to be the most cost effective way to get the performance that you're looking for.

There's a motherboard Asus WS x299 Sage that somehow supports x16/x16/x16/x16 configuration AFAIK, but for that, apparently you need an x299 chipset.

It's using PLX chips which can switch lanes between PCIe slots on the fly, they don't actually add lanes, that being said they can benefit certain work loads:

In reality, at least when talking GPUs, you can only use as many lanes as the CPU supplies. With x299 (Intel Skylake X) you can run x16/x8/x8/x8, with x399 (AMD Threadripper) you can run x16/x8/x16/x8.
