According to opensignal the coverage in india is great but speed leaves something to be desired.

India is not close to be in list of the top exporting countries.

Nobody expect celluar coverage in germany. Do you remember GSM? Was happy and got this yesterday instead of no signal which made loading text webpages possible.

??

I'm pretty sure people in Germany DO expect cell coverage in fact deutsche telekom (operating as T-Mobile in various countries) is one of the largest telecommunications companies to exist.

As for GSM.

Apart from the Verizon and Sprint in the US and a few carriers in Japan, China and South Korea the rest of the world uses GSM for everything. HSPA and LTE are part of the GSM standard.

you never visited it :D

With GSM I mean basic 2g not even the "faster" edge.

Telekom has the  best coverage but you will pay a lot of money or they have the worst coverage (congstar don't support LTE unless you pay premium for it and this is a new option! ( since 3.2018, in 9.2017 they published that they don't see the necessity for LTE)) and you don't have 100% coverage.  Just  board a regio train. On the importent lines you will have coverage but not better then edge/usable speed.

Take a train from frankfurt to kassel or Nürnberg to Bayreuth and you don't get what looks this nice. I can tell you that even if it is green it does not mean that you will get it.

Just a bit more zoomed in  (3G + LTD):

Also not every D1 customers have LTE as they sell it for premium. If you look at the largest provider O2 (LTE for everybody) it does not look good (orange is weak signal/only outdoor receivable).

Lots of it is linked to buying power. Yes, the price is very low in India, but wages are also much lower than Europe/USA.

Costs are also cheaper, because wages are cheaper, which lets companies still make a profit on these cheap LTE costs.
