Will the GTX 1070 ti bottleneck the i7-8700k

Some1iscool

yes, but if you cant afford the 1080ti then the 1070ti is the best option. I wont cut cost on the CPU just to put a 1080ti in here.

No it actually won't. You'll be perfectly fine with a 1070 ti.

Technically yes, but it isn't really an issue. As @Jurrunio said, you'd have to put another $300 in to get a card that will perform better, and unless you're running 4k or high refresh rate monitors then it's not really necessary.

I hate how concerned people are with bottlenecking. It's almost like it's the catchphrase of 2018.

yes there is. The thing is that the bottleneck doesnt affect user experience, so it's fine. Bottleneck is not the plague, no need to be so alerted about its presence.

Not much difference between a 1070Ti and a 1080Ti, except in benchmarks and really GPU intensive games.

hi.

Is the bottlenecking that bad or not

It depends on the settings that you are using. As said before, if you want to play 144 Hz at 4K resolution and have all of your settings cranked up to the max, then yes you will see some bottlenecking. Otherwise, you will be perfectly fine with a 1070 Ti.

Depending on the games, the 1070 Ti will serve you well. Get the ASUS Strix or the EVGA FTW, overclock them and you’ll be good to go.

The question is usually the reverse, will a CPU bottleneck a certain video card.  You have a top of the line CPU, so just get the best video card you can afford.  Also, the higher the resolution you run at, the more it relies on the video card and the more likely that will be the limiting factor.

Will it damage my pc

Just running a GPU damages it. What you are looking at is life expectancy, because all GPUs die over time. I wouldn't worry too much about lifespan though. Most PC components have a rated lifespan of something like 15 years. So if you are still using the same PC 15 years from now, you have larger issues than a tired GPU.

When you run your harware outside of system specs, there is ALWAYS the possibility of doing damage to the hardware. However, you minimize the possibility of damaging your hardware by knowing exaclty what you are doing. Use your wits and use moderation. If temperatures are within range, and voltage is at normal or only slightly above, you are using cool and quiet to keep the GPU at lower speeds until needed. So the chance of doing any damage is quite low. And what the heck, even if by a very remote outside chance that you do damage it, you know they make more of them! ;)

Where you MIGHT actually see it...
Assassins Creed Origins with 1080p Ultra,
Makes my 4c8Threads go to 90%, may induce high CPU load on many other CPU's (even if stronger)

(While not comparative exactly, a rough idea of my situation)

I have an i7 4790K at 4.6Ghz currently,..with a GTX1070 at 2050/9333Mhz, 16GB 2400Mhz, SSD n all that......

Not being a badly optimized game GPU wise,....but quite CPU hungry as we know..

This is the first game in a long time that I see 90% usages on my CPU (barring AC:Unity pushing 70-85% CPU as well), hence causing a slight drop on my OC-1070 to the low 90% usage ranges for a second or two and its variable 90-99% GPU usage while running the inbuilt Bench.

6C or 6C12t may do much better, but as an example,.. 5% of games likely fall into this demanding nature.
^As per the there is always a bottleneck somewhere, so I use Game-Res-Scaling or Nvidia DSR (above 1080p)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

You will always bottleneck some where lol

Not necessarily! Depending on the goals you’ve settled for your system, you might not see any bottlenecking at all.
