Need help with new build

1. Budget & Location

2200 $CAD

2. Aim

I do a lot of gaming, a lot of Photoshop, AutoCAD and other 3D programs for my architecture program in school. I do a lot of multi-tasking. 

3. Monitors

Two monitors at 1080p, will eventually upgrade whenever the time comes probably. 

4. Peripherals

I do not need windows, mouse, keyboard or any other peripherals.

5. Why are you upgrading?

Because I don't have a desktop.

I would get a better cooler but other than that the build looks good.

If you say you do a lot of multi-tasking, a Ryzen Processor would be better than Intel Coffee Lake. Go for the Ryzen 7 2700X. If you decide to do that, you'll also have to Change up your Motherboard to an X470 Chipset. Other than that I think you should be good.

Most of the workloads they are doing don't leverage multicore as much as single core. The 8700k will give them better performance in the programs they are using.

Would a M.2 be a better option instead of going for regular SSD?

Yes since there are higher transfer caps.

Also a better cooler would help and if i were you i would swap out that standard dvd drive with a blu-ray burner.

I would get the dark rock pro 4 for an air cooler.

M.2 You only see differences in reading and writing speeds and some people say boot up times but its pretty small difference in boot up time. OP should just stick with what he has ssd wise
