Will an originally TMobile locked lg G6 still receive system updates on a different carrier?

I just ordered an unlocked lg G6 that was originally from t mobile. I plan to use it on MetroPCS, however,will I still receive system updates even though the device is on another carrier? Or will I have to manually install the updates?
