Cpu cooler

Hey guys,

I just got a new PC, I've got an I5-8400 in a fractal design mini c -windowed. I've currently got a white and black colour scheme but want to get an aftermarket cpu cooler. I was thinking about either a hyper 212 or a cryorig c7. The c7 would look good but not sure. 

any advice appreciated

C7 is a loud *****, dont use it unless you absolutely have no other choice

Hyper 212 is very good affordable standard level heatsink.

Most "top down" heatsinks don't have comparable cooling power to "tower" heatsinks.

Though for that colour theme Thermalright Macho120 SBM would be very good for low noise cooling with very good pricing and good clearance for other parts.

163mm height - will fit in there - and it's about as black as it can get

For locked i5 thats as overkill as you can get without going full custom loop.

 

H7 or H5 from Cryorig, Dark Rock 3/4 from be Quiet!, Chromax U12S from Noctua. Also both you picked are good, and will work since your CPU doesn't really need more than stock cooler to be cooled.
