Is it a smart to put a 8 gb ram stick with 2x4 gb ram sticks?

I can buy a cheap 1 x 8 RAM sticks and I already have 2 x 4 RAM sticks. The seller doesn't have Any to 2 x 4 RAM sticks only a 1 x 8 stick. And it is a pretty good deal does it work or is it a dumb decision

As far as I know, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter one bit. If you really want I can take apart mine real quick and see if I can find a cheap 1gb stick to slide in w/ the others.

For a quick answer I think it works becouse my last pc had 12gb of ram but i dont know if it has any issues regarding which processor or chipset you are using

As long as you are not running any sort of dual channel operation, it should be fine. I've been running 2 x 4 GB with a 8GB stick for the past 5 years.
